Choosing the best running shoes for pronators.

Most running experts will suggest replacing running shoes for pronators or anybody else when you reach about 300-500 miles on your jogging shoes.  This is a good rule of thumb, but knowing when to order new running shoes can involve other factors as well.  "Like what?" you might ask...

Let's assume that you are a pronator (see our "Running Shoes FAQ" which includes a section for you if you are an overpronator) who is wearing running shoes designed for a supinator.  Let's also assume that your running shoes are being used in a humid climate.  Under these conditions, the jogging shoes may last only 50 miles - far short of the minimum expectation of 300 miles for most running shoes.

If a runner continued using these running sneakers when they no longer provided the support and cushioning needed, the athlete could possibly suffer shin splints, heel pain and stress fractures.  All because he used running shoes that had not logged 300 miles yet.  Pay attention to all the factors that might shorten the life of even the best running shoes for pronators.
