Made to be light-weight but does not last as long as carbon based shoe. Carbon Rubber - A solid rubber outsole with carbon added. Many running shoes use carbon in the rearfoot to prevent excessive wear. Flex Grooves - Notches cut into the outsole of running shoes to increase flexibility of the forefoot. This allows running shoes to roll more naturally. Heel Counter - Jogging shoes which use a strong, plastic cup that surrounds the heel. This stabilizes the rearfoot. Fit should be comfortable and snug to prevent blisters on your heels. Medial Post - Firm midsole material added to the inner side of running shoes. A post is configured to correct overpronation. (See Running Shoes FAQ) Medial - Reference to the inner side of running shoes. Motion Control Shoes - Term used for running or jogging shoe constructed from specific material to help eliminate excessive inward foot motion. Toebox - Area located at the front of the running shoes. A proper fit will have about one-half inch of space between your toes and the end of the running shoes. Also check for enough space between top of runner's toes and top of athletic shoes. Be sure to try on both left and right running shoes for best fit. Racing Shoes - An extremely light and flexible athletic shoe for road running or racing.
