Return to Running Shoes Tips home page Tips for your running shoes. How to make your running shoes last longer.Have you ever noticed that sometimes your running shoes last about 300 miles and other times maybe 400 or 500 miles. Well, there are many factors that could shorten the life of your running shoes. Here are a few running shoes tips to maintain your sneakers. Moisture can be an enemy to your running shoes. Wet athletic shoes cannot stabilize the foot as well as dry running shoes. When your jogging shoes are wet, they will stretch out prematurely. Remember, wet running shoes do not have the ability to absorb shock very well and they tend to compress too much. An excellent idea is to rotate two or more pairs of running shoes so they have a few days to dry out before you run in them again. But even if you rotate sneakers, the cushioning material in the midsoles of running shoes will oxidize more quickly in humid or hot weather conditions. Don't leave your running shoes in very hot areas such as the trunk of a car. If you follow these running shoes tips, your jogging shoes will last longer and you will experience better performance in your sport. Replace your running shoes when necessary to stay injury free.
