Here are some easy tips to care for your running footwear. Let's assume you have an amazing pair of running shoes you recently purchased. It's a good idea to get a second or third pair of the exact same running shoe now. Why? So you can get longer service from those great athletic shoes and also prevent running injuries. Your body will sometimes develop running pains which might be a sign your shoes should be replaced. Your trainer shoes can still look new, but actually be worn out. Here is how to rotate two pairs of running shoes. Get a permanent marker and label one pair of running shoes as "A" and the other as "B". Use your training log to write down the miles you put on each pair of running footwear. Alternate the shoes in your running program. This allows your trainers to dry out and the cushioning to "bounce back". When you log about 450 miles on one pair of running shoes, it's time to dump them and order a new pair. Continue this process and you won't need to worry about running injuries so much. Your running shoes should be replaced between 300 - 500 miles. Also, write the first run date for your shoes inside your running footwear with a marker and track time as well as mileage. Why? This is a great running tip. Even new running shoes will lose 50% of their cushioning capability just sitting in a box unused over a year's time. So if your running shoes have been idle in your closet, they may need to be replaced. For more running information, take a look at the following menu topics:
