Running tips:  Is it possible your running shoes perform best during the spring and fall?

Have you ever noticed your running shoes respond differently during the summer or winter months?  It is possible.  It seems that running shoes are made primarily from synthetic materials.  And the mechanical properties of some synthetic materials are indeed sensitive to varying temperatures.  Which means that your running shoes react to changes in temperature.

More running tips - Studies have been conducted on the midsole material (EVA) of running shoes.  Jogging shoes were monitored at different stages of the actual running cycle as the temperatures changed in the running shoes.  So what can we learn from all this laboratory jogging shoe stuff?

Well, the testing suggests that during summer temperatures, running shoes softened enough to lose important motion control.  And during cold (winter) temps, athletic shoes stiffened enough to lose significant cushioning properties.  So here are more running tips ...

It might be wise to avoid wearing firm running shoes in the winter.  Also, avoid wearing soft sneakers in the summer.  Consider buying soft running shoes for your winter running program and choose firmer trainers for the summer months.  Why?

Because logically it would seem that wearing running shoes designed for seasonal temperature changes would lessen the chance of running injuries.  These last running tips may be the most important of all.  Protect your feet - change your running shoes with the seasons.
