Which trail running shoes are right for you?

Your trail running shoes need to be periodically inspected the same as you would your car.  Even though trail running shoes usually hold up longer than road running shoes, the long-lasting outsoles still break down after 350-500 miles.  Even the durable midsoles of trail running shoes will be worn out after a season of heavy use.

As runners prepare for an upcoming run, they should consider the following tips when looking for new trail running shoes.

The weight of trail running shoes has dropped over time.  Trail running footwear is now lighter and faster and still provides excellent protection.  You can expect trail running shoes to weigh in around 11-13 ounces for the average man's trail athletic shoes.  Women's trail running shoes will be about 10-12 ounces.  If you want extra durability, then order heavier shoes.

Runners can expect to pay $75-$120 for quality trail running shoes.  If you choose to order trail running footwear cheaper than this, you'll miss out on many important features.  You'll probably sacrifice weatherproofing and dual density outsoles which give better traction in your trail running shoes.  If you order good, quality trail athletic shoes, you'll likely get multi-density midsoles for more stability and support.

But this doesn't mean you have to pay full retail price for excellent trail running shoes.  Look for good online running shoes stores that offer discount prices with premium customer service.
